FIBER Festival 2025
Audiovisual Art, Digital Culture & Electronic Music
Founded in 2010 by a collective of audiovisual enthusiasts, in 10 editions the FIBER Festival has grown into a vibrant meeting place where experimental audiovisual and multi-sensory art forms can be experienced and celebrated. The programme offers insights, stories and perspectives on urgent developments at the intersection of technology, ecology and sound. We often ask the question: how can the world look, feel and sound different when we perceive it through the eyes and ears of artists?
What started with a first edition in the basement of the now-defunct club TrouwAmsterdam, the festival now finds its way around the city of Amsterdam, spreading to larger theatres and concert halls, to leading clubs and DIY spaces. We offer a four-day packed programme; from concerts, DJ-sets and AV performances in the evening and nights, to inspiring lectures and knowledge exchange during the day.
2025 also marks the 15th anniversary of our organisation, which has supported and presented the cross-pollination of interdisciplinary and networked art forms since its inception. Presenting the work of a generation of digital artists - from audiovisual performers, sound artists, DJs and installation makers - and searching for new connections and radical visions on culture and society. We hope to welcome you to this special edition.

FESTIVAL THEME: WILDNESS
“This is the place where revolts are born, before emerging in broad daylight and overflowing in the world.”
Josèfa Ntjam on the abyssal depth and wildness of the underwater world.
Upon hearing the word Wildness, impressions of vast forests or lush jungles spring to mind. Places to get lost and become enchanted. For some, wildness is a state of being, seen as untamed, and experienced through encounters with feral non-human entities such as animals and plants. The term is also associated with strong, unpredictable behaviour, sometimes ungraspable or violent towards humans. A wild person acts ferociously, and is seen as someone steering away from the norms of society or inhabiting an alternative mode of life.
With less than 3% of the earth's land remaining ecologically intact – meaning it’s truly wild – it’s an understatement to say that we need more wildness in our lives. Inspired by the call for a rewilding of our living spaces and belief systems – a strategy to push back the effects of a warming planet and (re)create spaces for life to flourish in its most diverse potential – this edition will question: What can we learn from wildness? Which art, music and research practices deal with subjects related to wildness? Or even better, how can we practise or inhabit wildness ourselves and move towards a symbiotic way of life?
Looking into the future, the theme Wildness will offer us the space to critically discuss and exchange thoughts about ways and strategies to subvert or rethink monoculture realities. Next to ecological rewilding of damaged ecosystems, wilding or rewilding is used to rethink the excessive ecological impact and extractive nature of contemporary computation by a growing field of art and design practices. In experimental music, could one sense a rewilding of the sonic landscape in the mutations between a myriad of rhythms and styles?
Overall, we want to give space for critical questions and perspectives on the term wildness: Is it even possible to design (with) nature without destroying wildness? Is thinking about wildness still tied to traces from colonial history, where wildness was equated with the othering of indigenous people and non-humans, as being “savage” or 'brutal', thus legitimising conquest? How does making and experiencing art change when it is created through the unpredictability of chaotic and complex systems?
