Christina Vantzou is a nomadic composer concerned with adapting temporal experiences, atmospheres and harmonies through electronics and acoustic instruments. Her work is reminiscent of a sonic diary, in which elements from different worlds and environments combine to form a completely new reality. Field recordings of water, wind and other elements are interwoven with piano, mysterious vocals, modular synths and flute. During the making process of her most recent releases, Vantzou also actually worked in the middle of nature, where she was guided by the handling of materiality and life in nature. The compositions slowly converge from a direct interaction between outer and inner worlds.
About the artist
Vantzou has released a total of five solo albums, and several projects in collaboration with American composer and multi-instrumentalist John Also Bennett. Their live concerts are experienced as temporary spaces where drifting away, emerging memories and meditative slowness invite contemplative listening. Bennett works with various flutes, microtonal synthesis and field recordings. He too is often inspired by travel and resonance with spaces.
