LNR is a UK-born, Amsterdam-based writer and DJ. Her sound channels refractions of music along the hardcore and psychedelic spectrums, integrating technological rawness with dissociative coils. Inspired by a collective dialogue between her journalistic research surrounding dance music history and her obsession with collecting old school vinyl, LNR translates pen to wax by creating journeys centred around fluid iterations of sound system culture.
LNR plays in the shadows, frequenting at Amsterdam’s Garage Noord, and free party collective V23 in Belgium. She has performed alongside 90s legends such as 69db from Spiral Tribe, Eat Static, Felix K, μ-Ziq, and Scion. She is also the author of Biodegradable Soundsystem, a series of essays, features, and interviews navigating microclimates of old school dance music culture within the sphere of free parties, raves, club culture, and experimental sonics.
Biodegradable Soundsystem is a series of essays, features, and interviews navigating microclimates of old school dance music culture within the sphere of free parties, raves, club culture, and experimental sonics. The project maps the evolution of electronic music along the hardcore and psychedelic spectrums, tracing countercultural roots from Spiral Tribe and UK acid house to dub sound systems, early trance, and the many splintered definitions of hardcore. She also writes for the online platform Minimal Collective and recently launched 604, a zine on Bristol-based label Bellyache, aimed at decoding goa trance and unearthing its cultural history.
