Sara Persico & Mika Oki present Sphaîra (Live A/V)
Sat May 31 | de Brakke Grond
Fractal and abstract imagery unfold into a hypnotic choreography, gradually turning the viewing experience into a journey inward—into the architecture of the eye itself. Sphaîra is an immersive sensory work, designed for deep contemplation.
At this year’s Festival, Sara Persico debuts her latest album Sphaîra for the first time in the Netherlands, accompanied by a mesmerizing light scenography by visual artist Mika Oki.
The performance is based on field recordings made inside Niemeyer's dome in Tripoli, Lebanon, capturing the site’s echoes and distinctive acoustic energy. Through immersive sound and light storytelling, the artists recreate and transform the atmosphere of the space, expanding the audience’s sensory experience. The slow, deliberate visual shifts open a meditative dimension, inviting viewers to explore the edges of perception and presence.
About the artists
Born and raised in Naples, Berlin-based sound artist / vocalist Sara Persico cut her teeth experimenting on the fringes of Naples’ fiery underground experimental/noise scene, developing a technique that would integrate her voice with analogue electronics, field recordings, and samples.
Mika Oki is a visual artist, DJ and producer born in Paris with a background in sculpture and electro-acoustic music, she explores the notion of intangible spaces and emotional landscapes through A/V installations, music and mixes.
Sara and Mika Oki started this adventurous audiovisual collaboration inspired by Sara’s new album Sphaîra. The project challenges and expands the audience's sensory perceptions. The slow, deliberate pace of the visual transformations facilitates a meditative engagement, prompting viewers to explore the depths of their own perception.
