Live AV: Cortical + Sara Persico & Mika Oki
Saturday May 31, de Brakke Grond
21:00 - 23:00
This audiovisual performance programme invites spectators to lose themselves within a journey of drone-like soundscapes and dance-inducing percussive beats. The experience is enforced with a hyper-detailed universe of live audio-reactive CGI and hypnotic light scenographies. Cortical is the new project of Sevi Iko Dømochevsky & Daniel Benza. Their new project is a perfect balance between severe minimalism and over-the-top maximalism. Sara Persico & Mika Oki will present Sphaîra, an immersive sensory experience designed for deep contemplation.
Cortical (Live A/V)
Sonically close to the noise/experimental and industrial scene, but with a club-oriented perspective that emphasises primarily percussive elements, Cortical is the new audiovisual project by Sevi Iko Dømochevsky and Daniel Benza. Their new act strikes a perfect balance between severe minimalism and over-the-top maximalism.
During this year’s FIBER Festival, the duo will perform an A/V show including the sounds from their first release of last December “Wretched Patterns and Terrible Mistakes”. The central theme around Cortical’s A/V show is a dystopian future devoid of mankind, in which rogue AI systems carry out strange experiments and produce strange and nonsensical living forms. Expect dance-inducing, percussive beats, enforced with a hyper-detailed universe of live audio-reactive CGI.
Sara Persico & Mika Oki present Sphaîra (Live A/V)
Fractal and abstract imagery unfolding into a hypnotic choreography, gradually transforming the viewing experience into a journey inside the eyeball; Sphaîra is an immersive sensory experience designed for deep contemplation.
During this year's Festival, Sara Persico will debut her latest album Sphaîra for the first time in the Netherlands, accompanied by a mesmerizing light scenography by visual artist Mika Oki. Based on recordings from an abandoned dome in Tripoli, Lebanon, the performance channels the site's chaotic echoes and war-torn history. Through immersive light-scenography and sound storytelling, both artists recreate the dome’s special atmosphere, challenging and expanding the audience's sensory perceptions. The slow, deliberate pace of the visual transformations facilitates a meditative engagement, prompting viewers to explore the depths of their own perception.
